So folks, this is DeAndre Cortez Way, better known as Soulja Boy's newest single, "Yahhh!" Mind you, this is from his album "Soulja Boy Tell 'Em.Com"
Anyway, the funniest thing about this video to me is that there is literally no attempt by Soulja Boy and A-Rab to look or sound adult. "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" had more than a little bit of adult content implied in it, given the abiguous nature of "Supermanning that ho." But "Yahhh!" knows exactly what it is: teen rap.
Teen rap is an oft forgotten subgenre of the rap music that had it's heyday back in the early nineties that spawned at least two great hits:
This era and genre of rap was less concerned with drugs, guns, gangs, and clubs, but more with arguing with your parents and wearing your pants backwards because you didn't give a fuck. I guess the whole angle was that it was more universal (read: would appeal to more white folks). than the gangsta rap that was gaining mass appeal at that point.
I don't know if there really is an angle on "Yahhh!" though, because Soulja had the majority of his tracks before he was discovered by southern hip-hop impresario Mr. Collipark. However, I don't know if this particular track is pre-Collipark. But either way, it's hilarious in how much Soulja Boy is reveling in being a rebellious teen, even to the point of rapping about his subpar report card in the preview of his next single at the end of the video, which just pushes the whole thing over the edge.
I predict the next single will be about borrowing dad's car or having a messy room.

Oh man, seeing Soulja Boy do that really changes my whole take on him. Especially so if that was all made after his being discovered. Though I really just cannot get enough of the very end of that where he just lets us all know he was just kidding about his report card.
